The valve positioner (Electro-Pneumatic or Pneumatic) is used with the pneumatic control valve (diaphragm or piston). It receive the electrical or pneumatic signal from the regulator and outputs the pressure signal to control the stroke of the control valve. The positioner can improve the operating characteristic of pneumatic control valve and overcome the friction of the plug stem and the unbalanced force of the valve plug induced by the change of the medium pressure, thus the position of the valve changes with the control signal from the regulator in proportion, so that the proper positioning can be attained.
